6^th-8^th Grades

Unit 1 -Choir

Unit 2- Rhythm Instruments/Rhythm Games

1. Rhythm Sticks
2. Boomwhackers
3. Hand drums
4. Bucket drums
5. Basic drumline rhythms and syncopations

Unit 3- Guitar/bass/ukulele

1. Hand position
2. Picking
3. Basic chords
4. Tuning
5. Easy songs

Unit 4 – Music Appreciation/History

1. Early music
2. Historical Periods of music
3. Contemporary Christian Music
4. “Stomp”,”Blast”, “Blueman Group” ,
   “Marching Bands”’ “ Michael Jacksons- This is it”

5^th Grade

Recorders……Technique, singing, counting, clapping, note reading, sight reading, performance, sequential movement through the course book “ Be a Recorder Star”. Other Lessons from the above list will be added as time permits.

Grades K-4 learn songs, rhythm, beat, voice, and other things to grow their appreciation of music.
