Hi! My name is Rachel Karyakose.

I have a Bachelors’ of Science Degree in Elementary Education and a Secondary Mathematics Endorsement from Baker College of Flint. After graduating I had spent almost two years working for a STEM company where I led in-school and after-school programs with hands on learning in the subjects of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. In the spring I took a long term substitute position here at St. Pius X and this year I am joining the team.

When I am not grading papers or planning lessons you can find me at Girl Scout events, at church, or spending time outside. In May I married my husband, Justin, a super dedicated Engineer I met in college.

I grew up going to Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church. My fondest memories were teaching 3-6 year olds religious education. However, I fell away from the church when I realized I was reciting Aramaic sayings and verses that I had no understanding of. Over the years I church-hopped and visited churches from Davison to Swartz Creek and found myself at Holy Redeemer in Burton.  I have spent the last three years making a family at HR through ministries such as RCIA, Alpha, and Religious Education (CCD)
